North America’s Smallest Jail and Creemore’s Log Cabin

Learn more about Creemore’s history by visiting the jail and log cabin situated beside each other near downtown. The cabin is the last remaining log residence in Creemore and was home to James and Abigail Scarrow and their ten children. The cabin is run by volunteers and has cultural programs for people of all ages. Creemore’s prison is known as “North America’s Smallest Jail” with only 3 cells inside. The jail was used in the 1800’s to hold lawbreakers overnight. In the morning, the prisoners were shipped off to Barrie’s prison if they had committed more serious crimes.
