6 Things to Do in the Blue Mountains in the Summer

The Town of the Blue Mountains caters to everyone’s interests by offering a wide array of summer activities. We have compiled a list of the best places to go – so you can plan ahead and experience everything there is to offer in the area. Happy summer everyone!

Wineries and Cideries

Wine not? Sit back, relax, and enjoy a drink this patio season. Sample quality wines, ciders, and beers while taking in the beautiful scenery. Check out the Roost Wine Company, Thornbury Village Cider and Brew House, and Georgian Hills Vineyards. Reservations are always recommended!

Beaches

There’s nothing more relaxing than lying on a beach or swimming in the bay during the hottest days of the year. Some of our favourites are: Northwinds Beach, Council Beach, and Peasemarsh Beach.

Lookouts and Trails

Enjoy our iconic views at some of the best lookouts in the area. Or just go for a walk, run, or bike ride along the trails. Looking for a challenge? Make a day of it and bike from Collingwood to Thornbury on the Georgian Trail. Also, check out Duncan Escarpment Lookout, Scenic Caves Lookout, or Pretty River Valley Lookout.

Shopping

Shop, eat, and be merry during a trip to one of the historic downtowns in the Blue Mountains. Thornbury’s main street has plenty of restaurants and shops to choose from. If you’re an art enthusiast, make sure to check out Clarksburg (often referred to as “Artsburg”) which has art galleries along their main street. Or, tour around Blue Mountain Village and explore their shops.

Paddling and Water Sports

Paddle away on Georgian Bay. Or try other water sports such as jet-skiing, tubing, wakeboarding, and water skiing. Get out on the water with Free Spirit Tours, Eagle Adventures, and Xtreme Adventures.

Parks and Picnics

Buy lunch at a local restaurant or pack food for a picnic in one of our parks. Have a delicious meal while enjoying the great outdoors! Try Bayview Park and Pretty River Valley Provincial ParkWant to stay overnight? Book a campsite at Craigleith Provincial Park!
