Must-do Activities before Summer is Over!

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. Located 1 km north of Durham, Wilmer Trout Ponds offers free public fishing in its bountiful waters. Catch some trout or bass in the beautiful ponds, no fishing license required! Head over to Wilmer Trout Ponds before summer is o-fish-ially over!
Wave hello to some stand up paddle board adventures! Blu Wave SUP Academy is a SUPerb way to learn and enjoy the sport of stand up paddle boarding. Head out onto the blue waters of Georgian Bay and take lessons, guided tours, SUP yoga classes, group SUP sessions and even celebrate birthdays or bachelorette parties on stand up paddle boards. Join the paddle boarders at Blue Wave SUP academy for a relaxing, strengthening and downright fun activity!
Don’t you wish you could enjoy a great tour of Collingwood infused with history, humour, architecture, fascinating information and anecdotes, free of charge? Well your wishes have been granted with the Collingwood Free Walking Tour! Show up on a Monday or Wednesday at 1:30 to head out with a local guide on a lively and entertaining tour of the area. This is an offer you certainly can’t walk away from!
Take a seat (but you’ll only need the edge of it)! Meaford’s Big Red Chair tour is an experience that should not be missed. 10 large muskoka chairs have been placed in various exciting destinations around the Municipality of Meaford, each offering fun facts, great suggestions of places to visit and historical information. Set out on your self-guided Big Red Chair tour for an adventure to be chair-ished!
Treat yourself to some soft-serve ice cream, warm coffee, delightful candy and maybe even a specialty pickle in the Eugenia Falls Emporium Cafe/The Pickle Guy! A lovely cafe right beside the beautiful Eugenia waterfall, the Eugenia Falls Emporium is a wonderful location on a hot summer day. This innovative Emporium located in a refurbished garage closes in November, so be sure to get your fill of great food and drink in the parlour while you can. Make sure to check them out before the summer is over or else you will have to wait until next summer!
Delve into the dark past of Creemore, Ontario as you explore the Creemore Jail, built in 1892 for keeping all of the local shenanigans at bay. Measuring a mere 15 by 20 feet on the outside and containing 3 cells within this small space, the Creemore Jail isn’t exactly roomy. The first inmate was a particularly sinister cow, followed by various men thrown in the slammer for having too much to drink. Visit this summer to step into this old jail – as long as you’re not too claustrophobic!
Wander through the pedestrian-only area of Wasaga Beach to discover charming vendors, delicious food and live music. The Wasaga Beach Main-Street Market is a great spot for eating, shopping and exploring, right on the sandy shore of Georgian Bay! There’s also the Beach Bar which offers entertainment such as live music and karaoke right next door!
Cruise around the Collingwood Harbour and head into Georgian Bay with Collingwood Adventure Voyages or Collingwood Charters who both offer outstanding sightseeing cruises, learn about Collingwood’s history and get up a close-up view of the Nottawasaga Lighthouse, a local landmark in Collingwood. If you are visiting the Midland area, reserve your spot on the Miss Midland, a 300-passenger tour boat and experience the sparkling water, the windswept pines & rocky grandeur of Muskoka-Georgian Bay’s 30,000 Islands. Last but not least, don’t forget about the MS Chi Cheemaun, the ferry that travels daily from Tobermory to Manitoulin Island!
Head on over to the marina located at Living Water Resort and enjoy jet skiiing with Xtreme Adventures, where you can spend your time speeding and splashing out in the bay! (Minimum age for drivers is 16 years old. Vehicle licence required and must be provided).
