Walter’s falls is a double plunge waterfall in which the Bighead River drops 14 metres into the gorge. It is located in a village of the same name, dedicated to the pioneer John Walter and his family. Although the waterfall is located on The Falls Inn private property, the viewing platform and trails are accessible throughout the year – free of charge! Over the years the Inn has become a popular wedding and vacation spot (offering people watching and wedding crashing opportunities). NOTE: only guests of the Inn are permitted to park in their parking lot. It is suggested that visitors park at Grey Road 29 and the Holland Sydenham Townline. There is ample parking for 3 to 4 cars. More parking is available at the closed portion of the Holland Sydenham Townline.
The falls are very often considered as a stop in between Eugenia Falls and Owen Sound. Hike or snowshoe around Walter’s Falls to admire its natural splendor from every angles. The Bruce Trail is also accessible west of the waterfalls. Because it is located on private property, no swimming or picnics are allowed.
