Walter’s falls is a double plunge waterfall in which the Bighead River drops 14 metres into the gorge. It is located in a village of the same name, dedicated to the pioneer John Walter and his family. Although the waterfall is located on The Falls Inn private property the viewing platform, as well as the trails, are accessible throughout the year – free of charge! Over the years the Inn has become a popular wedding and vacation spot (offering people watching and wedding crashing opportunities).
The falls are very often considered as a stop in between Eugenia Falls and Owen Sound. Hike or snowshoe around the Walter’s Falls to admire its natural splendor from every angles. The Bruce Trail is also accessible west of the waterfalls, and since it is a private property: no dogs, swimming or picnics are allowed.
During your visit you will notice that the falls continues provide energy for a gristmill.
