March Break is just around the corner! Thinking of signing your child or children up for a program or two? Below is a list of some of the many programs taking place in South Georgian Bay during the week-long break.


1. Collingwood Museum

-Ice Age: March 12th– Travel back to the Ice Age when massive mammals roamed North America. We will even get the chance to take a peek at a real piece of mastodon tusk in the museum collection!

-Kid’s Castle: March 13th– Step out of fairy tales and learn about Collingwood’s very own castle! Create your own cool castle crafts and work as a team to build something magical with giant blue blocks.

-Annual Shenanigans: March 14th- It’s that time of year again! Let’s celebrate all things Irish with our wildly popular 7th annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration.

2. Free Spirit Tours

Spend your March Break exploring the wonders of Forest and Nature School.  Children lead the way with their interests and ideas at the forefront, while being guided through a specialized week of Forest and Nature School with a focus on nature-based adventure, building outdoor skills and free play as a core component.  Free Spirit Forest and Nature Camp will excite your child’s love of the outdoors, as we play, create, share and explore together.

4.  Meaford Hall

-March 11-15, 2019. March Break Creative Kids Camp! $210 per week/per child OR $40 per day. 8:30-4:30am, for ages 5-12. Join instructor Rachael Pederson for a week filled with creativity!  Check out Dufflebags Theatre’s rendition of Beauty and The Beast at Meaford Hall, (see info below), explore the outdoors, creativity in food, visit the Meaford Library for creativity in books and the Meaford Museum for a history lesson! This week will be jammed packed with fun activities, you don’t want to miss it!

-March 13 @2pm, Beauty & The Beast. Dufflebag Theatre brings the classic fairy-tale of Beauty and the Beast to life in their fun-filled fashion using the audience members as the stars!

Public Skating is also available during the break at the Meaford Arena. Check for the times. 


5. L.E. Shore Memorial Library/Craigleith Heritage Depot

-March Break Magic Show – Monday, March 11, 2019, 11:00am – 12:30pm. Join us for a fun and interactive magic show! Featuring Scott Dietrich and his furry bunny, Sir Walken.  After the magic show, children will have the opportunity to meet and pet Sir. Walken the bunny. Cost is $2.00 per ticket. Ages 4 and up. -DIY Unicorn Craft. Tuesday, March 12, 2019, 10:00am – 11:00am. Come on down for fun a DIY project! We will be rolling up our sleeves, and making our own unicorns. Ages 4 and up ( Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult). Free but pre-Registration required. (Library)

-DIY Wizard Hats. Tuesday, March 12, 2019 from 1-2pm. Come down to the library to create and design your very own wizard hat. Ages 8 and up. Free Event but pre-registration required.

-Magic in a Box. Wednesday, March 13, 2019 from 10-11am. This fun craft will allow you to perform your very own magic tricks using ribbons,scarves and handkerchiefs.The best part of this craft is that you will get to create,build and decorate your very own box of magic. This craft is for kids ages 5 and up (Children under the age of 8 must be accomapnied by an adult). Free Event but pre-registration is required. (Library).

– Magic Hanging Mobile. Wednesday, March 13, 2019, 3:30pm – 4:30pm. Make sure to meet us at the Craigleith Heritage Depot for a super FUN magic craft! We will be making a magic theme hanging mobile at 3:30 pm and remember to meet us at The Depot. Suggested ages 8 and up. Free event but pre-registration required.

– Wizard Medallion Craft. Thursday, March 14, 2019,  10:00am – 11:00am. Create your very own wizard medallion that best describes YOU! Ages 5 and up (Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult) Pre-registration required. Free event. (Library).

-DIY Lava Lamp. Thursday, March 14, 2019, 1:00pm – 2:00pm. A little bit of science, magic and lots of fun! Meet us at the library from 1-2pm for a super cool DIY Lava Lamp workshop. Ages 8 and up. Pre-registration required. Free event.

-Magic Bookmark. Friday, March 15, 2019, 10:00am – 11:00am. Meet us at the library for our super fun craft. We will be making magical bookmark wands. Ages 4 and up (Children under the ages of 8 must be accompanied by an adult). Pre-registration required. Free event. (Library).

-DIY Dragon Eggs. Friday, March 15, 2019, 1:00pm – 2:00pm. We will be wrapping up our March break fun with a super cool DIY Dragon Egg workshop. Ages 8 and up (children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult). Pre-registration required. Free event



6. Highlands Nordic

Learn to cross country ski, explore winter on snowshoe, build a snow shelter, learn about winter survival! Play the animal survival game, make traditional Pioneer toys, help make maple syrup & learn mapping skills

Cost: $250.00 for the week or $50.00 per day – Ages 4 to 8. Includes a hot lunch, two snacks per day, and all applicable rental equipment. Drop Off: Between 8:30AM & 9AM. Pick Up: Between 4PM & 4:30PM. To register, click HERE.


7. Theatre Collingwood

Join Theatre Collingwood for a super fun week at MARCH BREAK DRAMA CAMP!

March 11th – 15th   9am-4pm at The Simcoe Street Theatre. Ages 7-11 years. $160 + HST per week

Our theme this year is “Schoolyard Shakespeare”.  Instructor Drew Murdoch, through improvisation, story building, movement and basic scene study, will help campers to gain confidence in themselves and learn more about their own unique capabilities, all while discovering the ageless value of Shakespeare and how the plays can relate to modern times.  For ages 7-11 years. No experience necessary.  Our goal is to introduce campers to the wonderful world of theatre, to make friendships, to build self confidence……and to have fun!  COME ON OUT AND PLAY!

9. Meaford Library

March Break in the Junior Library:

Meteorites! Monday, March 11 at 1 pm. Learn about meteorites and how to find them with our guest speaker.

-Children’s Author! Tuesday, March 12 at 1 pm. Carolyn j Morris will share her books and story with us. Signed books available for purchase.

-Story Time! Wednesday, March 13 at 10:30 am. Stories, songs, rhymes, and a craft with friends.

-Slime Party! Wednesday, March 13 at 1 pm. Mix, squish, and stretch your own blob of slime. Supplies will be provided.

-Fish Facts! Thursday, March 14 at 1 pm. Ministry of Natural Resources guest will share fish facts followed by a fish dissection and discussion. Ages 9-16

10. Grey Roots Museum

From March 11 – 15, join us for LET YOUR SENSES GUIDE YOU to learn how nature uses its senses as we explore our own! Together we will learn what frequency our ears can hear, what patterns our eyes can see and much, much more.

*Registration is currently open for full weeks only. Single day registration will open on March 4, 2019. 

For kids ages 5 to 10. Hours are Monday to Friday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with drop off between 8:30 a.m. and 9 a.m., and pick up between 4:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. at no additional charge. 11. Clearview Public Library

Featured Event!

Get your Golden Ticket ($5.00/individual)for the best interactive ART experience presented during March Break in Simcoe County!
Presented and hosted by the Clearview Public Library and featuring the MacLaren Art Centre’s VanGo program.

This very special art interaction will be led by Sarah Hawley (a practicing regional artist). She will help your junior artist create her/his very own artist’s book using colour, line, texture, shape and pattern.

Up to 15 attendees/session will design and produce a unique accordion-fold book with cover art that explores text as image using the medium of watercolour painting.

(All materials plus a light snack will be supplied for artistic inspiration,)

(This is suitable for family crafting although this workshop is geared for older primary/junior intermediate school aged children.)

12. Simcoe County Museum 

Safari Staycation – March 1, 2019 (SCDSB)

13. Camp Cranberry

Monday March 11th – Friday March 15th, 2019, at the Atoka House – Cranberry Golf Course (27B Harbour Street, West, Collingwood ON)

Our March Break Camp for children ages 4-12 hosts a variety of activities including Art, Science, Drama and Sports. Campers will be completing daily art projects, creating science experiments, playing active games, swimming, cross country skiing and snowshoeing (weather permitting). Pick-up and drop off will be at the Atoka house, but your child(ren) will utilize different specialized areas of the resort, throughout the day, based on the activities scheduled. Our March Break Camp is designed to keep kids active, learning, safe and having fun!

Full Week Rate: $200 +tax
Daily Rate: $45 +tax

Earliest Drop Off: 8:30am. Camp Run Time: 9am – 5pm. Latest Pick Up: 5:30pm

14. Marsh Street Centre

Marsh Street Rocks this March Break! Send your Rockstar to the coolest Camp around! March 11-15, 2019. 9-3pm, Ages 7-12, $300. All skill levels are welcome.
