Beautiful Joe’s annual Pooch Pool Party – Meaford’s splashiest event!

This pool party is for the pooches! Chlorine has been reduced before the event  – so sorry, but no people in the pool.  Contests with prizes for:

  1. Dog / Owner Look Alike
  2. Fastest Swim (2 classes – Large & Small)
  3. Best Trick

No dog required – spectators welcome!.

This is a free event, but donations to the Beautiful Joe Heritage Society are gratefully accepted. They are raising money for a pedestrian bridge to provide safe and level access into historic Beautiful Joe Park (162 Edwin Street).

Pet life jackets are encouraged.

Music in the Park returns!! Join us for our jazz concerts. There is no fee for these concerts thanks to our sponsors and donations from those attending.

For non-residents there is a parking fee for certain areas near the park. Residents will need their Town Parking Pass.

Free parking is available at the Medical Centre at 78 King Street with a trail at the back for a shortcut to the park.

Who doesn’t love a good animal story?

In July / August, if it’s sunny (aka not raining) and it’s Sunday – join an expert from the Beautiful Joe Heritage Society for a leisurely guided walking tour of Beautiful Joe Park, the final resting place of Canada’s most famous dog. 

The 30 minute informative tour features:

You’ll enjoy this relaxed walk in nature, and you’ll help keep Beautiful Joe’s story alive. 

Footing is level and an easy walk. Tours are free. Donations gratefully accepted. Beautiful Joe Heritage Society is a registered charity.

Just a short walk to downtown Meaford and its lovely waterfront – or enjoy a picnic in the park.

Craigleith Provincial Park was established in 1967 by Ontario Parks. It is a recreation-class Provincial Park created to help preserve historic oil shale beach. Craigleith Provincial Park is a small park located between Collingwood and Thornbury on the southern shores of Georgian Bay. All of Craigleith’s campsites are accessible by car. There are four comfort stations located throughout the park so all campsites are within a short distance of one. Two of their comfort stations offer shower facilities and one offers laundry facilities. Located at the Base of Blue Mountain this is an ideal hub to enjoy what the local area has to offer. Hike the Bruce Trail, bike the Georgian Trail, visit the Blue Mountain Village or use your vehicle permit to gain free access to Wasaga Beach Provincial Park (the longest freshwater beach in the world).

Memorial Park in Meaford is a picturesque park and campground boasting 468 metres of beautiful shoreline on Georgian Bay. It features many amenities including full service campground facilities, public washrooms, concession/snack shack, two pavilion shelters, playground areas, mini-golf course, woodland walking trails and ample free parking. The campground is open from mid-May until Thanksgiving weekend each year. A pet-friendly environment, a portion of the beach is dedicated for dog use.
