The Purple Hills Arts & Heritage Society returns this fall with an exceptional gathering of art and artists in Creemore. This annual celebration of creativity includes their traditional Artists on Location program, enhanced by additional participant-engagement programming around the village.

Throughout the weekend, there are free interactive performances and access to artists in studios, community halls, on front porches and in many of our businesses, along with paid performances of the popular Choir! Choir! Choir! and a drag performance by Enya Dreams

Photo Competition and Reception 

Enjoy an evening of laughter and storytelling from local author, Dan Needles, along with musical guest Ian Bell as they present “True Confessions from the Ninth Concession”. There will be desserts as well as a cash bar. 

This is a 19+ event. No ATM on site. 

About Dan Needles: 

For 30 years, author and playwright Dan Needles has been bringing to life the stories and characters of his mythical Persephone Township, a fictional rural Canadian community two hours north of the big city. His Wingfield Farm series of stage plays have appeared in virtually every English speaking theatre in Canada, including the Stratford Festival and Royal Alex in Toronto and eventually became a popular television series aired on CBC, Bravo and the PBS networks. Thousands of readers have followed his magazine columns in Harrowsmith-Country Life, Country Guide, Small Farm Canada, In the Hills, On the Bay and Watershed.

Nominated three times for the Stephen Leacock Medal for Humour, Dan won in 2003 for his local history of Persephone Township, With Axe and Flask. He is the author of 12 plays, four books and hundreds of magazine columns. From more than a thousand platforms, Dan has entertained crowds as a banquet and conference speaker, carrying a message of neighbourhood, affection and the power of farmer thinking.

Miss Scarlet did it! Or did she?

Murder Tastefully Executed Inc. presents the immersive Murder Mystery Dinner at Station on the Green. When the doors open somewhere in the group of highly suspicious guests, a company of actors prepares to make the evening an unforgettable one. Everyone has a chance to mingle and size up the situation. Mysteriously, someone at the event is murdered and throughout the rest of the evening, everyone tries to solve the crime and expose the killer! Dinner is served with a slice of laughter and great intrigue. 

A full three-course meal is included. (Menu to be announced).

In one of the wildest frauds in Canadian history, farmer Arlan Galbraith built a bird-breeding empire called Pigeon King International, using investments from hundreds of his nearly insolvent neighbours. For seven years, he offered a lifeline of financial hope to people whose luck had nearly run out. But was he really a scheming con man? Or a hapless victim of his own preposterous dream?

Storyteller Zwena Gray will engage you in her ongoing journey along the Bruce Trail, highlighting some of the Trail’s historical roots in the Underground Railroad, and how she’s creating a diverse and inclusive hiking community.

Notorious Cree, an Indigenous Hoop Dance performance by celebrated artist and social media sensation, James Jones, of Tallcree First Nation in Alberta.

Choir! Choir! Choir! is a Toronto-based singing group led by creative directors Nobu Adilman and Daveed Goldman. The duo takes a non-traditional approach; there are no auditions, and the audience is the choir. Show up and they’ll teach you an original arrangement to a song you love. Founded in 2011, Choir! Choir! Choir! has amassed a dedicated and passionate community of singers and a thriving international fan base on YouTube amassing 10s of millions of views on some of their videos.

The group has performed with renowned artists such as Patti Smith, David Byrne, Rick Astley, Tegan and Sara, and Rufus Wainwright, and onstage at New York’s Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall with the likes of Debbie Harry and The Flaming Lips. They’ve created content for NBC’s Jesus Christ Superstar with Hamilton’s Brandon Victor Dixon. And they they’ve performed at the MET in New York for New York Pride and hosted their own float in Toronto Pride. They remembered Canadian music hero, Gord Downie, by performing Grace Too with the surviving members of the Tragically Hip to 10,000 fans in Toronto.

Choir! Choir! Choir! exists to celebrate music and push the boundaries between practice and performance, artist and audience, offering therapeutic benefits with the ultimate side effect: a powerful community.

Creemore’s first ever drag show featuring three amazing queens who are ready to strut their stuff at the Creemore Legion Br. 397 as part of the Creemore Festival of the Arts hosted by Purple Hills Arts and Heritage Society.

Included in this stellar line up of top notch talents is the unbelievably beautiful and bold Enya Dreams. Described by the Buzz Mag she is part 1960’s supermodel Twiggy, part Brigette Bardot and a dash of ‘Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!’, this Toronto based drag sensation prances with style, poise and unpredictability. She brings along her friends Istealya Heart and Vylette for a night of unforgettable entertainment!
