South Georgian Bay is getting ready for the winter season with a strong line up of holiday and winter festivals and events! We can’t wait to see the smiling faces of locals and visitors, young and old, safely rediscovering South Georgian Bay. This upcoming series of outdoor events will help to support local and bring our communities together safely. The Town of the Blue Mountains includes popular destinations such as Blue Mountain Resort, Blue Mountain Village, Thornbury, Clarksburg, and more! The Blue Mountains encompasses an area of sharp contrast between the shores of Georgian Bay and the ski hills on the Niagara Escarpment.
Blue Mountain Village is hosting a series of events this winter season, beginning with Holiday Magic at Blue! Friday, November 19th to Sunday, January 22nd at Blue Mountain Village, the Village will be wrapped up in garlands and bows and illuminated with the sights and sounds of the holidays. The Blumination Dream Trail will also be running from dusk to 10pm every night. The entire outdoor Village will be dressed up in sparkling lights that shine along a one kilometer path.
Thornbury’s Old Fashioned Christmas will return on December 11th! This special tradition has been apart of the community for over 40 years and will include all of the favourite holiday festivities such as Christmas tree lighting, reindeer, chestnuts roasting on an open fire, singing, and more!
Collingwood is a charming town with incredible history, art, culture, food, and drink! During the winter season, Hurontario Street is lit up with festive decorations and inviting shop windows. You can start your stroll at the waterfront trails and continue towards great restaurants and boutiques.
The Collingwood Christmas Market is back! On Friday, December 3rd, 10th, and 17th from 5:00-8:00pm, the streets will be filled with light installations, local vendors, strolling entertainment, and extended store hours. Enjoy the magic of the dancers from Fleetwood Dancecentre and 5678 Dance as they perform in the windows and on the street! Most importantly, Santa will be back in town with his big red sleigh and his reindeer in training (on the 10th and 17th) beside the Federal Building. If you’d like to see Santa before December, Collingwood’s Annual Santa Claus Parade is returning on Saturday, November 19th at 5:00pm. The theme for this year’s event is “The Lights of Christmas”.
Santa will be visiting Collingwood many times this Christmas season, with one such visit coming up on Friday as the jolly St. Nick drives a flashy Coca-Cola truck through town. Coca-Cola Canada Bottling announced a cross-nation Holiday Truck Tour for the first time this year, with Santa driving the truck through 100 communities. The truck will be in Collingwood and The Blue Mountains on Nov. 19 with a drive-by at FreshCo and Walmart around 3 p.m. and a visit to Blue Mountain Resort at 5 p.m.
Clearview Township is a rural community with small-town charm and lots of festivities!
Beginning Wednesday, November 24th, support the Clearview Chamber of Commerce and all Clearview businesses for the Stop & Shop Sales Event. Visit the amazing stores to find great Christmas specials, beat the rush and shop locally. Be sure to plan ahead with their new website that will list participating stores and coupons. Parking is always free in municipal lots and on-street. The Tourism Information & Heritage Centre, located at 220 Huron St., Stayner will be open to welcome visitors between 12pm-6pm.
Enjoy the dazzling lights at Station Park in downtown Stayner during the Tree Lighting presented by Clearview Township between 5PM-7PM on December 1st. Meet Santa and his reindeer, listen to the carols from Ladies Night Out and a dance performance from the DanceRoom. There will be tasty treats from Bakery by the Bay, Wheelhouse Pizza and hot drinks. The Clearview Youth Centre and Clearview Public Library will be there with kids’ activities and remember to bring your receipts for the “All I want for Christmas is LOCAL” sales contest! The Tourism Information & Heritage Centre is open. Everyone is welcome! The following evening (December 3rd), twinkle lights, crazy masks, and fun for the whole family will be at the Creemore Tree Stroll & Lighting presented by the Tree Society of Creemore between 5PM-8PM at Station on the Green. There will be a live music, a bonfire to keep warm and of course local food and drinks for everyone to enjoy. Bring a toy or food donation for the Clearview Fire Services’ collection. Make an ornament and help to decorate Santa’s sleigh at the Log Cabin.
Saturday, December 3rd, the Stayner Santa Claus Parade will start at Station Park on Huron St., in front of the TD Bank at approximately 11 AM. Route: Main Street (Hwy 26), then turn right onto Stayner Street, then on North Street and end at the Stayner Arena. Santa’s elves will be accepting donations for the Clearview-Stayner Food Bank along the parade route. Please have your donations ready at the curb and one of Santa’s helpers will be happy to collect them. The Stayner Kinsmen Club and the Stayner Heritage Society will be serving hot dogs & hot chocolate at the Jubilee Presbyterian Church on Main Street in Stayner. Later that afternoon, the Creemore Santa Claus Parade starts at 1:30PM. Enjoy floats created by friends and neighbours, The Collingwood Collegiate marching band and see Santa. Enjoy a visit with local, independent retailers to find the perfect gift before or after the main event. Meet Santa at the Log Cabin after the parade.
The Creemore Farmers’ Market Annual Christmas Market is a 2-day event with over 20 vendors! Shop early for delicious products from growers and bakers on Saturday December 4 and buy local crafts from makers on Sunday December 5. The indoor market is at the Station on the Green. Please note that all COVID19 protocols are in effect.
Meaford is a four-season playground that has it all: great live theatre and concerts, fresh local food, unique shopping, nature at your doorstep, recreational activities, a beautiful harbour and waterfront campground, and so much more.
On Tuesdsay, December 7th at 2:00pm, Meaford Hall will be hosting An Intimate Crooner Christmas. This show brings together Crooners Rick Kish & Connor Boa along with the Nevin Campbell Trio for an afternoon of swingin’ tunes. Take a journey back to those 50’s/60’s Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra style Christmas Specials. With lots of surprises, the show features 2 hours of popular standards of the era as well as a whole lotta Christmas Music.
Additionally, the Meaford Farmers’ Market will be hosting two Christmas Markets (Saturday, December 4 and Saturday December 18) from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Meaford & St. Vincent, Community Centre, 151 Collingwood St., Meaford, ON.
Wasaga Beach has long been hailed as one of the premier tourist destinations in the world and home to the World’s Longest Freshwater Beach. Their welcome mat stretches for miles and they are encouraging everyone to partake in this year’s winter festivities!
On November 27th, Santa is coming to Town! The Santa Claus Parade and Tree Lighting begins at 22nd St and Mosley St. at 5:00 p.m.; and ends at the RecPlex (1724 Mosley Street). Holiday Public Skating will also be hosted by Wasaga Beach this year at the Wasaga Stars Arena for select hours beginning December 20th to January 2nd.
