Sunday, June 16th, 2019
Father’s Day is quickly approaching, show your dad how much you care about him by spending the day here in South Georgian Bay! Below are some ideas for things to do & ways to treat your dad!
To all the father and father-figures out there, we wish you a happy & fun-filled Father’s Day!
Decisions, decisions! Go for a tour at one of the local breweries (Creemore Springs Brewery offers free tours every hour on the hour beginning at 12pm & the Collingwood Brewery offers free tours every Saturday from 12-6pm). Or do some beer tasting or shopping at one of their retail stores! You can also take dad over to Wasaga Beach and visit the Beach Bar, located right on Beach Area 1. (Psstt, coupons for a sample of Beach 1 Cervaza are available at the South Georgian Bay Visitor Centre located at the Collingwood Museum). Don’t want to worry about driving? Book a tour with the Beer Bus, Ace Transportation Group or Free Spirit Tours, whom all offer brewery, cidery & winery tours!
Treat yourself to the best schnitzel in town at the Iron Skillet or a burger at TheSmoke. Both eateries have been featured on the Food Network show, “You Gotta Eat Here!” There’s more restaurants to choose from if burgers & schnizels aren’t you thing.
On your marks, get set, go! Wasaga Beach 500, located just outside of the beach, towards Elmavale has a 1.6km track to race your dad on, plus batting cages, 2 mini putt courses and a snack bar. Blue Mountain Go Karts is another option for go-karting, located between Collingwood and Wasaga Beach, this go-kart location offers a ¼ mile track plus mini golf and a batting cage.
Head on over to Thornbury to the Harbour Mews and enjoy axe-throwing at the newly opening Axed Throwing Club. Challenge your dad and see who can get closest to the bulls-eye!
Treat your dad to a few hours of fishing on Georgian Bay! U Catch Em Charters, located in Meaford, offers 4,6 or 8 hour charters for 1-4 people. There’s also Collingwood Adventure Voyages who offer fishing charters out of Collingwood, there is also a special rate during Father’s Day weekend for a 4-hour charter!
