Bring On the Light
December 21, 2021 @ 9:00 am - January 21, 2022 @ 4:30 pm
Come out and explore areas of your community that you may not have seen or visited in the past. Take part in some outdoor activities that promote fun, health, and creativity through free experiences for all to enjoy.
Bring On the Light features social skating nights each Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., for five weeks, beginning December 22nd at the outdoor skating rink at Central Park. Enjoy festive lights and glide to some great music with friends and family, or just sit by the bonfire as it lights up the night sky.
Participate in ongoing, self-guided programs throughout Heritage Park, Legion Park, Central Park and along our trails.
Activities include the Watchful Eyes Scavenger Hunt and Story Walks at Heritage Park and along the Train Trail beginning at the Museum. Check out ‘Words in the Park’ for great photo opportunities. Enjoy a stroll with your favourite warm beverage while reading the Lamp Post Light Verses or add your special message to the Word Wall.
For the ‘do it yourself-er” visit our local Museum to pick up a free lantern craft kit, starting January 7th! Kids will enjoy decorating their own mason jar lanterns and watching the warm glow of light. Quantities are limited, so get yours before they’re gone.
Visit the Collingwood Public Library to pick up an all-ages art kit designed by local fibre artist Natasha Koledin. Each free kit will contain supplies to complete a light-inspired woven art piece at home to be displayed at the library during Bring on the Light. Once again, quantities are limited and will be offered while supplies are available beginning December 21st.
