Biking Day Trips in SGB
Just because the weather is getting cooler doesn’t mean you can’t keep using the trails! Enjoy a biking day trip in SGB with family and friends. Get some exercise, take in the beautiful scenery and shop or eat at a local restaurant!
The Georgian Trail is one of South Georgian Bay’s biggest gems. The trail starts in Collingwood and goes all the way to Meaford. This trail is 34 km long and has over 30 access points. Stop on the way to walk along one of the beaches: Northwinds Beach, Peasmarsh, Council Beach, Craigleith Provincial Park, or Christie Beach. If you don’t want to bike the 34 km to Meaford just bike from Collingwood to Thornbury which is 21 km.
Enjoy lunch or dinner at one of Thornbury’s amazing restaurants: the Dam Pub, Thornbury Bakery, the Mill Cafe, the Corner Cafe and Grill, or the Bruce Wine Bar. If you’re going to Meaford stop at: the Leeky Canoe, McGinty’s Cafe, or the Kitchen. After lunch make sure to browse the shops in downtown Thornbury or Meaford!
This is another great bike ride that you can make into a day trip! The Clearview Rail Trail goes from Collingwood to Stayner and is 12 km long. Enjoy lunch at one of the restaurants in Collingwood mentioned above. Or have lunch in Stayner! Grab a delicious pizza from La Pizzeria and bring it to one of the many local parks such as: Centennial Park, Fountain Park, and Legion Park. Another option is to eat lunch or dinner at Cafe Coco, Friends Pub, or Fornetto.

The Blue Mountains has 285 km of trails throughout the municipality! Some of the third party trails and access areas include: the Bruce Trail, Loree Forest Trail Section, Metcalf Escarpment Trail Section, Pretty River Forest Trail Section, Grey Sauble Conservation Authority Trails, Kolapore Uplands Trails, Waterfall Tour, and Apple Pie Trail.
