5 Winter Events Not to be Missed

Winter is not known as “the most wonderful time of the year” for nothing! With glistening snowy landscapes and fun activities for everyone, winter is magical. In South Georgian Bay, we take winter fun to a whole new level with the many events held in the region throughout the chilly season. Read on to find out which winter events simply cannot be missed in South Georgian Bay.

1. Family Weekend at Blue (Feb.16-18, 2019)
Blue Mountain Village

Gather the family for a weekend of active adventure and entertainment! Head off on a scavenger hunt, get moving with our interactive groove dancing, take in a fireworks show and so much more! All at Blue Mountain Village.

2. Blumination Dream Trail (Dec. 1, 2018 – Jan. 6, 2019)
The Blue Mountains

The Blumination Dream Trail is a free one-kilometer, illuminated winter stroll through the Village, around the Mill Pond and straight through your imagination. It’s a holiday celebration every day of the week, with entrancing nightly light shows and an experience like none other. Weekends bring Saturday night Fireworks, horse and wagon rides, visits with Santa, and more!

3. Snowman Mania (Feb. 15 to 18, 2018)
Wasaga Beach

Snowman Mania is Celebrating its 14th anniversary! Enjoy four days of activities including fabulous music, SuperDogs, Chili cook-off, Polar Plunge, great community partners, Rock-Solid wrestling and much more, all held throughout Wasaga Beach.

4. Frozen in Time Festival (Dec. 28 – 30, 2018)

Stroll through Collingwood’s downtown to enjoy the crystalized beauty of the many ice sculptures depicting the history of the area. Cheer on sculptors as they battle it out in an epic installment of ‘Ice Carvers, battle of the chainsaws’. In addition to the exciting ice-sculpting competitions, take a leisurely horse-drawn carriage ride through downtown Collingwood, slide down a giant double slide, sip on hot chocolate and apple cider and play some road hockey! With so many activities to choose from, the Frozen in Time Festival is a fantastic winter event certainly worth attending.

5. Winterama (Feb. 1 – 3, 2019)

Make your way over to Clearview Township for a carnival celebrating all things winter! This exciting carnival has been dubbed the “greatest little show on snow” for good reason – it is super fun! For over 40 years, Winterama has paid homage to the magical season of winter in New Lowell, and this year, New Lowell is at it again with a fantastic winter carnival planned for 2019.
