5 Winter Activities - Meaford

There is so much to see and do in Meaford and the surrounding area. How much of it you want to see is completely up to you. From the natural sights and sounds to the arts and history is all wrapped up in this magical little town.  A town where you and your furry friend are more than welcome. Trout Hollow Trail – The Trout Hollow trail is a path that meanders along Bighead river. Running through woodland and accross the frozen meadows and streams. This trail offers beautiful scenery and an easy stroll through the wilderness. Walking or snowshoeing the Trout Hollow trail is the perfect outdoor activity for all ages!

Georgian Trail – This old 34km train line trail begins in Collingwood and ends in Meaford. The trail features a hard-packed, granular surface ideal for hikers, cross-country skiers and snowshoers. Conditions are variable as the trail is not maintained in the winter months.

Bruce Trail – The Bruce Trail is the best of the best for hiking, snowshoeing and cross country skiing. With an constantly changing landscape you can cross more than 5 different types of forests and only just have started.

Coffin Ridge Boutique Winery Do you like wine? We do too! Why not get in your snowshoeing time in through the grapevines at Coffin Ridge Boutique winery! With views that are sure to make memories and delicious wine it really is a win win.

 

  • Meaford Hall – With many amazing shows and events, (plus an art gallery), Meaford Hall is highly recommended for a stop when in town. Great talents come walking through this beautiful hall all the time so be sure to check out what is going on to see all that you can while you are in town.   • Meaford Museum – A wonderful museum located steps from the waterfront. This museum boasts treasured historical artifacts, artwork and items of significant historical value. In the souvenir shop they even sell tasty local jams, jelly and honey. Admission is by donation!

 

 

  • Irish Mountain Lookout. 44.642853, -80.664100One of the most scenic lookouts in the area is located north west of Meaford. From this lookout you can see the beautiful landscapes along Georgian Bay to Blue Mountain and beyond. It is also a stop on Meaford’s Big Red Chair Tour in the spring/summer time. 

  • Visit a Dog Friendly ParkMeaford has to be one of the most dog friendly towns in Canada with no shortage of fun things to do with the pup in your life. Dog trails to parks, accommodating hotels to B&B’s, all are welcome and all are in for a great time! If you are traveling with your pet in the South Georgian Area area this winter, a stop at the Beautiful Joe Leash-Free dog park is a must. There are 2 different fenced in areas, 1 for small dogs and the other one for larger dogs! While you are there, head down the road and stop at Beautiful Joe Park, which sits on the banks of the Big Head River. Learn about “Beautiful Joe” and how he become famous.
